Karuna is seeking to expand our finance team as a result of the rapid growth of the organization. The Senior Accountant will be a key member of the finance organization, working under the VP Finance and with the broader team to drive best-in-class finance leadership to Karuna. The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated with a passion for problem solving within a growing organization. The position will be accountable for high-exposure areas of both financial reporting and accounting and will need outstanding written and verbal communication skills given the role’s direct exposure to the CEO and CFO.
Manage and improve the monthly close process to ensure consistent and quality financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations including (but not limited to) cash, short-term investments, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, AP, accrued expenses.
Prepare journal entries related to payroll, benefits and other employee accruals.
Reconcile equity management platform and prepare stock-based compensation expense schedules.
Support external audits including preparation of financials and disclosures.
Ensure accounting compliance with US GAAP and support implementation of ASUs.
Manage Ppurchasing process including: PO generation, invoice entry and payments, expense reporting.
Collaborate with PureTech Health on intercompany accounting.
Drive internal process improvements and identify opportunities for automation.
Support ad-hoc requests by providing financial analysis and insight to program teams.
Desired Skills & Experience
3+ years of experience in either public accounting or life sciences companies.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent from an accredited university.
CPA license strongly preferred.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
Proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics is preferred.
